Prairie Mountain Health is currently recruiting 2 Full Time (1.0 EFT) Internists to join the Hospitalists team at Brandon Regional Health Centre. The Brandon Regional Health Centre has 313 beds with a moderate-volume ER and a 10-bed ICU providing care to medical and surgical patients. Diagnostic Services consist of Radiology, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine. Other medical programs include Dialysis, Chemotherapy, Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, Cardiology, Respirology, and Gastroenterology. There are over 100 physicians, including family physicians and specialists, with admitting privileges at the health centre, and numerous medical clinics located throughout the city.

Successful Applicants for the General Internal Medicine Hospitalist position will be contracted with Prairie Mountain Health for the week of Hospitalist duty and for the weeks off service will be able to bill fee for service, as per the current Manitoba Physicians manual negotiated in the Master Agreement between the Minister of Health and Doctors Manitoba.

Contract compensation is derived in accordance with the current agreement between the Minister of Health and Doctors Manitoba for On Call specialist Doc of the Day/Hospitalist - hourly rate is $147.85/on call rate $709.65 with on call premiums. Total weekly Hospitalist pay is $12,507.98.

As this is a contract position, successful applicants are responsible for arranging their own benefits, if desired.

 Qualifications:
 
  • Must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
  • Must hold or be eligible for Internal Medicine certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
  • Must have or obtain proof of Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage under the appropriate category
  • Must have experience managing hospitalized patients
     
Description:

 

Prairie Mountain Health is looking for General Internal Medicine specialists to fill the role of Hospitalist at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. The primary role of the General Internal Medicine Hospitalist is to look after patients presenting to the hospital requiring inpatient admissions who do not have a physician with admitting privileges. This position will support the Family Medicine Hospitalists by taking on the more difficult cases during Hospitalist duty as well as providing Internal Medicine inpatient consults during the weeks off service. In serving as the Most Responsible Physician, you will manage all care including work-up, appropriate referrals, planning discharge and liaising with the community primary care providers.


A full-time Hospitalist position provides 26 weeks of care per year (7 days on/ 7 days off). The work week extends Monday-Sunday from 0800 - 1700 hours. There would be an on-call responsibility of a minimum average of 3 to 3.5 nights per week.

Additional Internal Medicine consultative work is available on a fee-for-service basis on the off service weeks.

Prairie Mountain Health is currently recruiting a general obstetrician/gynaecologist to the city of Brandon. Brandon Regional Health Centre is the regions primary referral centre, serving a population in excess of 150,000 residents. The 313-bed Regional Health Centre offers a state-of-the-art ‘Single Room Maternal Child’ unit including a surgical theatre and neonatal intensive care beds. Diagnostic Services include radiology, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and nuclear medicine. There is a wide range of specialist services available on site including paediatrics, internal medicine, general and orthopaedic surgery. Applicants will have the opportunity to join one of the various clinics located throughout the city. This position offers one day a week of OR time with an average of 1 in 5- to 1 in 6 on call. There are also multiple teaching opportunities if this is of interest to the applicant.

Brandon Regional Health Centre is the region’s primary referral centre, serving a population in excess of 150,000 residents. The over 300 bed Regional Health Centre has 48 Medical Beds, 56 Surgical Beds, 9 Adult Intensive Care Beds, 20 Obstetrical Beds, 6 Operating Rooms and 1 Minor Surgery Procedure Room.  Diagnostic Services include radiology, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and nuclear medicine. Successful applicants will provide anesthetic care throughout the surgical and obstetric programs, including supervision and teaching of students and residents. The successful applicants will also be required to participate in an on-call rota of approximately 1 in 4.
