BRHC Auxiliary Celebrates a Fundraising Milestone

Brandon Regional Health Centre Auxiliary is celebrating a milestone in its fundraising history. Donations since 1982 from the Nearly New Shop and the Gift Shop have made it possible for the Auxiliary to donate more than $4 million to enhance patient care at Brandon Regional Health Centre.  More recently, the partnership with Tim Hortons has also contributed to an increase in these donations.

Ultrasound equipment for Radiology, monitors for Emergency, an anesthetic machine for the OR, a fetal monitor and infant resuscitator for Single Room Maternity Care, and equipment for the Pain Clinic are just some examples of modern equipment made possible by the Auxiliary over the past 35 years.

These donations are made possible by the generosity of those who support The Gift Shop and Tim Hortons at Brandon Regional Health Centre and The Nearly New Shop at 601 9th Street. An amazing group of more than 100 volunteers work behind the scenes sorting, stocking and pricing items. Together, the shoppers, donors and volunteers are truly partners in providing much needed funding for patient care equipment at BRHC.  That really is something to celebrate!

Brian Schoonbaert, BRHC Chief Operating Officer shares that ``The hard work and commitment of the BRHC Auxiliary, and their numerous volunteers, have resulted in an enormous contribution to the equipment at BRHC and in turn to the care that we are able to provide to our patients.  The residents of the City of Brandon and neighbouring communities should be very grateful for their efforts of this very unpretentious yet extremely dedicated group of individuals.``

“Reaching this $4 million milestone is such a rewarding experience” states outgoing Auxiliary Chair, Marlene Brichon.  “This is truly a community effort and the credit is  shared with so many people: everyone who has been a member of the auxiliary since its inception, everyone who ever volunteered at the Gift Shop, everyone who ever volunteered at the Nearly New Shop, every person and business who donated items to be sold at the Nearly New Shop, every person who has shopped at the Gift Shop and the Nearly New Shop, every person who has supported and encouraged us in our efforts, every person and business that helped us with the maintenance of our two enterprises. Without the efforts of all these people, the money could not have been raised and the much needed equipment and bursaries could not have been purchased. The Auxiliary looks forward to your continued support as we work towards the next milestone.”
